BaliSmartHome started in 2019 with one observation: the island was filling up with smart gadgets and almost nobody was building smart systems. Owners had drawers full of remotes and phones full of apps, and the first internet outage turned it all into decoration. We are a small team of integrators and licensed electricians based in Canggu, and we build villa automation the unglamorous way — local hubs, open protocols, written guarantees.

How We Think About Smart Homes

Three principles run through every project. Local first: automations, locks and recording must work with the internet down, because in Bali it regularly is. That is why we standardise on Zigbee and Matter with a hub inside the villa, never on cloud-only gadgets. One system, not gadgets: every device we install joins the same hub and the same app — a villa we wired in 2020 can add curtain motors today without replacing anything. Honest engineering: if a cheaper device does the job, we say so; if your internet line cannot carry cloud cameras, we tell you before you pay, not after.

We install Aqara, Tuya, Sonos, Ubiquiti and Reolink hardware — chosen for tropical tolerance and local control, not for margin. Our reasoning is public in the brand comparison we publish and update. Mains electrical work is done by our licensed electricians; we do not subcontract the parts that can burn a villa down.

Who We Work With

Since 2019 we have automated over 200 properties: rental villas in Canggu and Seminyak managed from three time zones away, family compounds in Berawa, clifftop houses in Uluwatu, guesthouses in Kuta and ordinary family homes in Denpasar. About half our clients are abroad most of the year — the systems are built to be run from anywhere and serviced mostly over WhatsApp and remote diagnostics.

The Guarantee

Every installation carries a written 12-month guarantee covering hardware we supplied and all configuration. A device fails, an automation misbehaves, a camera goes dark — we fix it free, usually remotely within hours, on site within days. After the first year, most clients keep us on a light support arrangement; many just message when they want the system extended. Working hours are 09:00–19:00 daily, and the fastest way to reach us has always been WhatsApp.
