Smart climate control managing air conditioning in a Bali villa bedroom

Cooling is 60–70% of a typical Bali villa's electricity bill, and most of that money is spent cooling empty rooms. I have put climate automation into well over a hundred villas, and the pattern repeats: guests set 18°C, leave for the beach, and the compressor grinds all day. Smart climate control fixes this without making anyone uncomfortable — the AC simply follows occupancy and time of day. Most villas see the investment back within two to four months of PLN bills.

What Climate Control Includes

Control of Your Existing ACs

Smart IR controllers replace the remote for any brand — Daikin, Panasonic, Sharp, Gree — no AC replacement needed. Newer WiFi-native units are integrated directly. Each room gets its own logic.

Presence-Based Cooling

Zigbee presence sensors know the difference between an empty bedroom and a sleeping guest. Empty room for 30 minutes? AC steps up 2 degrees, then off. Someone returns? It quietly resumes.

Schedules & Sleep Curves

Pre-cool bedrooms before bedtime, drift the temperature up gently through the night (better sleep, less compressor time), and shut everything down at checkout automatically.

Humidity & Mold Defence

Bali's real enemy. Sensors trigger dry mode when humidity passes your threshold — protecting wardrobes, leather and electronics in villas that sit empty between guests.

Where the Savings Actually Come From

The honest arithmetic: a 1 PK split unit burns roughly 0.8 kWh per hour. Running pointlessly six hours a day, at PLN's ~IDR 1,500 per kWh, one bedroom unit wastes around IDR 200,000–250,000 a month — multiply by four or five units and the leak is real money. Automation attacks exactly that waste: cooling follows people, windows-open detection pauses the compressor, and checkout shuts the villa down. Nothing about comfort changes; only the empty-room hours disappear.

For rental owners the killer feature is remote visibility: you see every unit's state and temperature from anywhere, and energy logic runs per booking — our rental villa guide covers the numbers. Climate also composes with the rest of the system: smart curtains close against the afternoon sun before the AC has to fight it, and the whole-villa setup ties cooling to the same Away and Night scenes as lighting and security.

How We Install

  1. AC inventory

We list your units, remotes and room volumes — by WhatsApp photos or on site — and flag any unit too old or faulty to be worth automating.

  2. Controllers and sensors

IR controllers, temperature/humidity sensors and presence sensors are installed per room. No rewiring; the AC's own remote keeps working too.

  3. Logic programming

Schedules, presence rules, humidity thresholds and checkout shutdown are programmed to match how the villa is actually used.

  4. Tuning after real use

After a week we review the logs and tune the thresholds — included — because every villa's sun, breeze and guest behaviour differ.

Pricing in IDR

Smart control for one AC unit — controller, sensor and programming — starts from IDR 1,200,000. A 3-bedroom villa with presence sensors and humidity logic in every room typically runs IDR 6,000,000–9,000,000. Combined with lighting or a full install, climate is discounted as a module — see the pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with my existing AC units?
Yes — any AC with an infrared remote can be automated, which covers virtually every split unit in Bali. WiFi-native units from Daikin or Panasonic are integrated directly without an IR controller.
How much will I actually save?
Villas with normal rental traffic typically cut AC consumption 20–30%. The savings come from empty-room shutdowns, window detection and night curves — we show before/after kWh in the app.
Can guests still use the AC normally?
Yes. Remotes and wall controls keep working; automation only steps in when a room is genuinely empty or at checkout. Guests never notice — the bill does.
Does climate control help against mold?
Significantly. Humidity sensors trigger dry mode automatically when a closed-up villa passes ~70% RH — the main cause of mold on furniture and clothes during owner absences and low season.
