Lighting is where a smart home stops being a gadget and starts changing how the villa feels. Most Bali villas I visit run every lamp at 100% from a wall of identical switches — garden floodlights included. After an install, one tap sets the whole villa to a warm 30% evening scene, the pool glows, and the pathway lights only wake up when someone actually walks there. I design lighting on Zigbee, not WiFi bulbs: it dims smoothly, responds instantly, and keeps working when the internet does not.
What Smart Lighting Includes
Scene Design Per Room
We map every circuit and design scenes around how you live: Morning, Evening, Cinema, Dinner, Away. Each scene sets brightness and colour temperature across the room in one tap or on schedule.
Smart Switches & Dimmers
Aqara Zigbee switches replace your existing ones — including no-neutral models for typical Bali wiring — so the wall switch keeps working for staff and guests who never open the app.
Motion & Presence Lighting
Bathroom and corridor lights that fade in at 10% at night, terrace and garden zones triggered by presence sensors, and everything returns to schedule automatically.
Outdoor & Pool Zones
Weatherproof control of garden, façade and pool lighting with sunset/sunrise automation — the villa lights itself at dusk and shuts the garden down at your chosen hour.
The No-Neutral Problem (and How We Solve It)
Most villas in Canggu, Ubud and the Bukit were wired with no neutral conductor at the switch box — the cheapest smart switches simply do not work there, and the usual workaround (WiFi bulbs behind a dumb switch) breaks the moment someone flips the wall switch off. We install no-neutral Zigbee switches with the correct bypass capacitors, or relay modules at the fitting, depending on the circuit. The result behaves like normal wiring: wall switch, app and automations all stay in sync.
Because everything runs through the local hub, your lighting joins the rest of the system: the curtains close as the Cinema scene dims the room, the alarm flashes the terrace lights if a sensor trips at night, and the Away scene simulates occupancy while you travel. Lighting is also the most popular module in our full villa installations — and the easiest place to start.
How We Install
Circuit survey
We check each switch box for neutral wires, load types and dimmability — LED drivers in Bali villas are wildly inconsistent, so we test before promising dimming.
Scene design
A short session on how you use each room turns into a written scene plan you approve before installation.
Switch installation
Existing switches are swapped for Zigbee models, one room at a time, with power off only on the circuit being worked — the villa stays liveable.
Programming and tuning
Scenes, schedules and motion rules are programmed and then tuned after a few nights of real use — included in the price.
Pricing in IDR
Smart lighting for one room — switches, dimming and scenes — starts from IDR 1,800,000 installed. A typical living-dining-terrace zone with motion automation runs IDR 4,500,000–7,000,000. Whole-villa lighting for a 3-bedroom property, including garden and pool zones, starts from IDR 9,000,000. Hub included free with any whole-villa lighting order; otherwise see the pricing page.
